Collagen Induction Therapy stimulates your body to create its own collagen. At The Beaumont we offer this therapy with Skin Pen, the first FDA cleared microneedling device. This can be used with or without PRP therapy.
Microneedling with Skin Pen
Skin Pen targets facial and neck wrinkles and imperfections, leading to smoother, more radiant, younger-looking skin. It is safe and effective, with results lasting up to six months. It is more invasive than microdermabrasion or hydro-infusion, as it penetrates through the skin layer.
94% of patients noticed an improvement in their fine lines and wrinkles at one month post-treatment.
How it works:
Inflammation
SkinPen’s microneedles pierce the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue
Proliferation
The micro-wounds created by SkinPen are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops
Remodeling
The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are comprised of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness

PRP Therapy
PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy is used to encourage and expedite your body’s natural healing processes. This can be used in conjunction with Skin Pen microneedling to expedite your skins healing. This version of microneedling using the liquid gold process is also referred to as the “vampire facial.”
PRP may also be used as an alternative to dermal filler (particularly under the eyes) to stimulate your collagen production.
There are multiple advantages to PRP therapy, including:
• stimulating collagen production
• improving skin texture and complexion
• improving scarring
• decreasing fine lines and wrinkles
Treatments are customizable, and typically 2-3 treatments are recommended in 4-6 week intervals to achieve maximum results.
What to Expect
The provider will gently cleanse the skin. Topical anesthesia may be administered to ensure maximum comfort throughout the treatment.
Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the provider will gently pass SkinPen over the treatment area. As the tiny needles create micro-channels in the skin, patients typically feel light pressure and a mild buzzing sensation, with minimal discomfort. The treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Most patients notice slight redness in the treated area, similar to a mild sunburn. Additional common treatment responses include dryness, tightness, and peeling. This is normal and should subside within 24 to 72 hours. Makeup and sunscreen can be applied 24 hours after treatment. Please see patient labeling for detailed safety information.
